You are a researcher, a research entity or company and interested in European funding opportunities for research and innovation projects in the field of health?
Here you can learn more about open calls in the Health Cluster and the Cancer Mission of Horizon Europe.
The Health Cluster aims to meet EU goals and priorities on promoting and protecting human health and well-being, preventing diseases and decreasing the burden of diseases and disabilities on people and communities, supporting the transformation of health care systems and fostering an innovative, sustainable and globally competitive European health industry. A healthy population is vital for a stable, sustainable and inclusive society. Economic growth is only possible on the basis of a healthy population.
To tackle these issues, the Horizon Europe Specific Programme includes the following six "areas of intervention" for the Cluster Health:
For each cluster of Horizon Europe, funding opportunities are compiled in bi-annual or annual work programmes. For the Health Cluster, these work programmes are organised in six Destinations:
Under each of these Destinations, calls for proposals are published regularly, usually once to twice per year. These calls are usually for collaborative projects, for applicant consortia consisting of organisations situated in different EU countries and beyond.
Horizon Europe funds different types of maily collaborative projects, for instance:
Research and innovation actions (RIA) that establish new knowledge or explore a new or improved technology, product, process, service or solution. The EU funding covers up to 100 % of the project costs.
Innovation actions (IA) that produce plans or designs for new or improved products, processes or services including prototyping, testing, demonstrating, piloting, large-scale product validation and market replication. The EU funding covers up to 70 % of the project costs.
Coordination and support actions (CSA) that improve cooperation among EU and associated countries to strengthen the European Research Area including, for example, standardisation, dissemination, awareness-raising, communication and networking activities, policy dialogues, mutual learning or studies. The EU funding covers up to 100 % of the project costs.
The actual calls to submit project proposals electronically can be found in the respective current work programme (see documents), which contains all relevant details on the calls for proposals. The calls and all funding information as well as details on how to apply are further published on the Funding and Tenders Portal of the European Commission. Information about our own events and other event offers can be found under Events (the link leads to the main German version of the website).
In addition to the work programmes/funding opportunities for the Health Cluster and the cancer mission, funding opportunities for health research and innovation are also offered in various other programme parts and initiatives of Horizon Europe, as well as in other European funding programmes.
